If you go pissing about with the 18's and lardy da, your going to fuck up the cars handling and general setup. Leave the 17's, or change them, but 18's and you are going to be worse off if you enjoy the drive

Not true!

Vauxhall originally planned on fitting 18's as standard on both the Astra Gsi Turbo and the Coupé Turbo as they offered the best handling and didn't alter the performance a great deal. They went with 17's in the end out of costing issues.

Thats crap Patrick, 18's would not improve handling, thats just does not make physical sense, they went with 17's because they looked better and the handling would still be respectable. Please think about it

A seondhand F15 box costs around £50-£75 from a scrappy. And you're contemplating spending £1000+ on new rims??

Welcome to Patricks strange world of wisdom

F20 gearobx only costs £50. F13/F15 should be even cheaper?

18's will hardly make a difference as i went from 16's to 18's and i put the 18 with tyre next to the 16 with tyre and they were exactly the same size due to low profile tyre on 18's. However, id lower it first and spend the 1000 quid on the engine instead. Wheels can come at a later date.

Spot on rich

If i got an SRI T Or GSI i doubt i would go higher than 17's because of the way the car is designed in the first place.I ean they spend millions designing sports cars for a reason.

That's why i'm putting 18's on mine because it's slow in the first placw so it wont make much difference

According to who exactly? The 18s would have been a marketing exercise at best but were probably too expensive, too damaging to the handling and would have needed new type approval which is also costly!

I don't see how going bigger makes handling better - more weight primarily, less sidewall and more cross-section, no, no, no!

ps. get 19s you woman. 18s are going to make your Turbo look like a tarted up 1.8i. They look bloody lovely. Just don't try and justify it with anything other than vanity
