Hi,

On my old 13" steelies I ran 31.5 on the front and 28.5 on the rear. Now I've got 16" Alloys on 195/45/16 tyres, I'm not sure waht pressure to inflate my tyres to.

What tyres pressure are your wheels on? What tyres are they? Does anyone know the correct psi for 195/45/16?

Thanks! Lets see what everyones running on!

I was told by the place that I bought my tyres from to go up 1.5psi per inch that your alloys increase.

this would mean I'm on 36f and 33r. Isn't this too high?

whats everyone else running on?

I'm on 32f 30r on 195/45/16, but that's just a guess, dunno if they should be higher. Remember if they are too high, you get less grip.

inflate by the position of the wheel i guess all grooves/ridges(spelling?) should sit flat on the ground (@ ground level) so you will get an idea when its over inflate or under inflate

and if your wheels are running a lot of camber then what?? I dont agree with above, about 32 front and 30 rear or if you have a LOT of ice maybe a touch more should do it.

My old 15"s and my current 16"s with the 1.4 16v lump, i ran at 26psi. Stuck very well.

Im now running 30psi due to the heavier engine.

The wider the tyre, the bigger the contact patch on the ground, which means the lower the pressure you need to run to achiever the same deformation of the tyre. On the other hand, the heavier the car over standard, the higher pressure you need to run. On my stripped out car with 7 inch rims, I run 26psi at the front and 25 at the rear.

the rear should always be approx 2psi lower than the fronts, as the rear hasn't to cope with increased weight of the engine
