Just wondering which would give a better induction sound. Drilling the airbox or getting a K&N induction kit. And has anyone got a K&N generation 2 kit and know if they sound any better than the normal K&N kits. i got a scorpion exhuast gonig on soon to make it all sound better.

I'm new to all this, and would like some advice from people that have already tried these ways of making your motor sound like a subby!

cheers

induction kit will cold air feeds will give u the best noise

drilled airbox & panel is cheaper though and will still give u a good noise

if your car is only an 8v then it wont give the roar u are after, u need 16v's for that

cool. i got 8v SRi. it sounds good as standard. i hink i will go for K&N induction kit. not sure if it will be worth going for the newgeneation 2 kit. it hs a heat shield on it. not sure if the filter is any different. has anyone got one of the new ones? are they worth the extra £££? ta

Get a PVD BFO, no substitute.

I not have a K&N sitting on my shelf gathering dust because its crap in comparison.

My mate had a K&N 57i on his old 8V SRi, sounded mint, gave a nice roar, didnt compete with a BFO cone really but still sounded sweet.

The BFO is bigger and has an inverter cone on the end.... if you get what i mean... it kind of channels the air in. Thats why it sounds distinctive.

I disagree my 8v sri gave a loud roar on my induction kit, i'm after more performance now so drilling air box with a k&N filter.

cool. sounds like the PVD BFO cone is the way to go then for sound and performance wise then.

Makarus did your mate have K&N on his SRi then get the PVO which sounded beter on it?

i might order one of these in the next few days instead of K&N 57i for my 8v SRi

im currently testing a drilled airbox with a panel filter to see if it makes more noise. i had a K&N on it before which was alright but found a lot of flat spots from the heat.

noise is all down to power of the vehicle, material the inlet is made from and material the filter is made from k&n cones are made from nylon and piperx/bfo are foam the foam gives the loud induction noise throughout the rev range but nylon filters are more high revving filters

performance wise u are better drilling the box and putting panel filter in

however i use a bfo cone on my car and i have actually made a half cover round the filter made from steel shimmy which is very thin this works wicked with a nice big cold air feed u see this way i still get a massive roar with heat being reflected and cold air being forced in

i recommend above had k&n crap
had piperx good
had drilled box ok but hated it

my way above but sure alot of u will disagree

Induction noise is created by the engine's vacuum. A free flow filter is only one element in producing a louder exhaust note. The intake piping itself is also designed to create a more mellow induction sound.

I think i'll go with a BFO cone. if i find i get flat spots then i'll try make a heat shield like Corsa120 did.

If i feel that i could get a bit more performance from a drilled air box and K&N/BFO filter then i might try that.

But i think i'd prefer a richer sound to a slight performance increase

If its an 8v SRi it will sound nice.

Its the spi's that are nowhere near as loud.
