yeah some adsl companies they give you a backup dialup account when adsl goes tits up, you will need a normal modem to use it, not the adsl one.

you can buy ADSL routers for about £35 with a 4 port hub built in IIRC, look at www.ebuyer.com (nothing to do with ebay) And munch, the backup dialup from BT is pay per minute, so if it ever does go down, remember its not free!

Unsure should I get a USB one or an internal PCI one...

Is going in a Dual CPU machine (and before you say ADSL wont work with Dual CPU's, well it DOES!!)

paulw I think its more of a matter of dual cpus+usb+adsl modem which made things go nutty. I wouldnt bother with a internal PCI one cause they are jsut alot of bother, I'd either go usb or ethernet.

will stick with me USB then as the current one is USB

just need something I can rely on & that isn't prone to overheating when heavily used (like all the time)

im sure the usb ones are going to be better, and for over heating, whats going to be hotter, inside your computer (where lots of hot air is being pushed into atm unless you have watercooler/freezer attached to the back) or in the open air of your office?
