my insurance came up for renewal a couple of weeks ago, i was previously with TESCO and changed to norwich union.

TESCO sent me a cover note and other info saying i have payed and am iinsured with them. which i didn't ask for.

I checked my account and i hadn't made n e payments so left it.

checked my account today to find they have taken 17.62 out of my account. i can't work out what for

who do i ring? my bank or tesco insurance?

I'm not insured with tesco n e more, i'm with norwich union.

if u dont tell them u want to cancel the contract then they will presume you still want to be insured

Ring your bank and tell them not to pay anything more to Tescos, then ring up tescos demanding to know whats going on and get your 17.62 back.

^^ They shouldn't automatically assume you want 'another' years insurance with them.

They probably haven't assumed it. It may well be written in to a contract somewhere. Call them and tell them that although you may be bound by their conditions (assuming such conditions exist), you have still suffered a drop in confidence in the company and in order to restore your faith in their professionalism you will do all that you can to return the covernote and policy documents unused so long as they provide written confirmation that they intend to re-imburse you.

Mine do (I'm with Privilege). It says on their renewal paperwork that if you want to renew with them, you don't need to do anything, but if you want to cancel, you have to phone them up!

they all do, its to prevent you from driving uninsured and them being held to blame

id rather them automaticly renue it then them cut me off and me getting done for driving with no insurance

its always happened like that

Get confirmation that they'll refund you so long as you return the stuff, then call back and change some details on the policy and get another set sent out. You must set dates on stuff for things like refunds etc. and perhaps more importantly, if you've got a policy still going on with Tesco, that is where you no-claims is and you've fraudulently told NU that you have spare ones when you don't! Call Tesco and back date your cancellation!!
