and im thinkin about a de-cat, do you think its worth doing? i know if u get pulled then uve fucked it but thats not very likely. main think i want to know is if it invalidates insurance. also are there any other implications i should know about?

When i went to powerflow i paid £30 to get my cat made so it could bolt in and bolt out very easily (i.e. for MOT). The chance of getting stopped for a roadside emmisions test is very low, and probably a risk worth taking for the power increase de-catting gives.

Whats meant by a 'cat back'... Never really got what it meant?
people say its a cat back exhaust system... does that mean it skips the cat?

catback is everythin from the cat back
so they leave the cat
full system wil replace cat aswell i think

it will invalidate your insurance...
cause it won't have an MOT, even if you put the cat back on for the MOT, when the car is without the cat driving on the roads it has an invalid MOT, so could have invalid insurance in the instance of a crash.
if the police do pull you ever for an on the spot emissions test then you will be screwed because the car will not be road legal, because it has no cat it has no MOT and insurance even if you have a piece of paper saying you have both.
your call really, but that's the worst case really...

Mot is only good for the minute it's done.Anything can chage straight away after leaving mot station.
You could get am mot and 10 mins later brake bulb has blown, does this mean your car is illegal
and insurance / mot invalid.I don't think so m8.
You still got a valid mot and will NOT invalidate insurance.

very true mav, but a bulb blows of its own accord, the cat doesnt simply fall out an a pipe falls into place, the cat has to be physically removed, so this may be different, Dont know for definite, just a thought

but my mate got done for having no cat even though he had an MOT... since his emmisions were sky high.
he was told his MOT was invalid since his car would not pass in the state it was in, and therefore it wasn't road legal.
so im abut dubious about this decat idea.

An MOT just states the car met the requirements of the test at the time the test was carried out.
As it states on the certificate this does not mean the car will stay roadworthy for 12 months.
So anything about "your MOT is invaild as it doesnt meet the requirements in its current state" is grade A bull. If it were true then, as has been said, having a blown bulb would be the same situation.
While we are in a topic about exhausts, whats the visual difference between an inward and outward rolled pipe?
