Make sure you've got drivers for all the essential pieces of hardware - modem, video card, etc.

Take down the details of your Dial-up settings, any email details, etc.

Backup your Favourites, My Documents and basically anywhere you store files.

Go through Add-Remove programs and make a note of any pieces of software you can't live without.
Do the same in the Program Files directory.
Make sure you've got the installation program for these programs.

Get a corporate copy of XP Pro as it doesn't need online activation after 30-days or so.

It is worth doing Kerry, just gotta check certain bits beforehand.

Backup important files and settings as Joff said above.
Check your PC meets the hardware requirements (XP needs a bit more of everything than ME did)
'Obtain' an iffy copy of XP to avoid any activation issues (I'm sure anyone on here can help you with that, myself included)

If you want any help going through it just gimmie a yell It's not as bad as it sounds TBH

Nah! My Commodore 64 rules! Much better than a BBC computer! I have the optional tape drive, and with 64k of RAM, what more could you want from a computer!
