if you can get insured get a 1.4 16v or 1.6 16v corsa sport.
i got one for my 1st car and it's not too shy for a first car.

You could have mine in the near future, probably July time.
Not heavily modded but had a bit done, cheap insurance too because its a 1.2 8v. Would include everything on the car at current for £3000.

Oh and to be serious if you want a car thats cheap to insure you would need to look around 1.2 8/16v or 1.4 8v.
On the other hand you could spend £3000 on a fully kitted older ragged car and spend loads on insurance, you choice really.
Just a bit of advice on the avenues to look.

I offered you my car, you said you were really interested, but never got back to me?
It's a great starting car, and it's a 1.4 with only 45k on the clock, 2 previous owners, 1 being vauxhall.

Nothing wrong with that, as long as it get's you from a-b. When you go back to work you will be able to afford something better, worth the wait!

FCUK ME!!!!
You pay £1800 as a bird, I thought I was paying a lot at £1700 with all mod declared fully comp.
No point in going on your parents insurance, you dont build up no claims, and some insurance companies can be really dodgy when it comes to paying out especially if the car is moddified, even if you cover the mods.

Ah right, it may not be that bad then because in theory you could kit yours up and it not cost you any more where as mine will cost me for each mod.
I am insured with tesco but they are shite, dont know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to cars.
