Anyone have any experiance of these? Any good?

Thought it might be a handy thing to have rather then having to trek to a garage when ever one is needed

like this one for example

Do lots of research! None of the cheap ones will work on every car so just make sure it at least works on your existing car

I've bought a few of these in the past and one of the best I found was made by UFITech ( http://www.uiftech.com/ )..

Also remember most cheap ones will only support one component (i.e. ECU, Transmission, SRS etc.).. And generally they wont let you interact much more than resetting codes..

...Oh and another slight down point, quite a few modern cars wont let certain codes be cleared without the proper dealer-tool (although some high end scanners can still do it).

If you've got a spare £1.5-2k floating about get your self a Snap-on SOLUS Ultra and as many extra keys as you can

I use a £8 one off ebay with a Nexus 7 tablet. Works brilliant but you need to get the hacked version of the OBD2 program which is easily found

I've got the model before it and its sound

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MS300-Engine-Code-Scanner-OBDII-Car-Diagnostic-Reader-CANBUS-Fault-Tool-/171518257310?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27ef48e89e

Doesn't do every code on every car but good enough for most EML / sensor related stuff.

"Torque" is the app to get for Android - note that iOS doesn't connect to a Bluetooth adaptor, you need a wifi OBD adaptor for them.
