Could have written that clearer

Get onto a cheap variable product now and clear down as much capital as you can so that when they do go up you aren't quite so heavily affected.

It can work both ways though. If the rate starts to go up right at the end of your fixed period you could find yourself shafted on a much higher rate because instead of SVR + 1% you might well be on SVR + 3/4%

Its a pure lottery as no-one knows whats going to happen. Many 'pros' in the industry said the low rates would only last a year......just a little out weren't they while others 'guessed' this would be the outcome. The same state holds now. Many think its going to be stable for another 4/5 years others think its going up in months.
