Well I called Santander, who gave a settlement figure on the car of £5000. I now do not know whether to pay this and own then sell the car, or just hand it over. It could be a whole load of hassle selling and I'm not sure what the car is worth, so here are the details if you could give your opinion ?

2006 Astra VXR (RED)
80k
6 owners
6months MOT
Part service history (loads spent on it by myself)
Mint condition bar a few stone chips

Going off Parkers valuations, if it was on 60k good condition it'd be worth 6.4k

I'd pay off the 5k and put it up for sale at 5750 accepting a bit less.

If you want hassle free then just either hand the car back or sell the car to someone for that exact amount then pay it off. If you want a bit of cash in your pocket pay the £5k and sell the car for £6k. Bit more hassle but better in your pocket.
