Most ABS systems are ECU controlled, Mk4 escorts had mechanical abs which works off belts on the driveshafts and is absolutely poo havent come across the system on any other car yet though.

The very early gsis did have an earlier type of ecu, whereas later corsas were different however i thought they were both bosch systems but cant remember for sure.
