are u actually a mile up when u are in a plane or are u higher than a mile?

say a normal passenger jet cruises as around 30 odd thousand feet...then how many feet are in a mile?

feet to miles is x by 1.894x10 (-4)
o0r dfeet to meters is x by 0.3048 then meters to miles is x by 6.214x10(-4)
