I want new brakes but I've only got a 1.2 16v so dunno if its worth spendin loads on big over-powered brakes, or just get new pissy standard ones?

The guy in MMV Performance thinks I should get a 2.0 16v brake conversion (from an Astra GSi?) with new EBC discs, new EBC pads and recconditioned calipers - supplied and fitted for £220?

Who else has done this kind of conversions?
Is it a good thing to do? What size wheels can I fit after it? Got 16's just now but sometimes put standard 14's back on when I'm bored.

Or what else could I get, I dunno much about brakes...???

Any comments/info would be great

Think minimum size it 15" wheels, theres a feature bit in max of a brand new big brake conversion for about £350

alos hered though it's pointless on anything less than a 1.6

I'm not necessarily wanting bigger brakes, just better brakes.
Or do you need to go bigger to get better?

Sorry to sound thick but I really don't have a clue about this stuff.

u can often change the discs and pads for improved braking, discs would be a better bet as lots of owners on mig say that the OE pads are the best u can use

Of course there is a point in fitting bigger brakes! I've heard people descride it as addin 10bhp to your car,i mean think about it the less you have to brake the more speed you can keep? yeah?

Looks like that's the way I'll need to go then.
Dan, I'll think about those calipers and pads and get back to you if I decide on them. Cheers.

Just go for ATe calipers and vented discs off an Astra GTE. Apparently there loads better than any standard brakes on a corsa, plus GTE's came with 14"s as standard....

If you've only a 1.2 just upgrade to Greenstuff pads.
Of course MMV want you to spend £220 on bigger brakes in their shop, then they'll be £220 richer!

My advice, save your money

Yours Lucky B.

The speedo stopped at 142mph but the car didn't!

Yeah M8 ive got a 1.2 16v and upgraded to 2L brakes last year - makes a HUGE difference! Got s/hand calipers from scrappy for £40 off of a Cally then bought Red-Dot 6slot discs (£80) and Red-Dot FastRoad pads (£35)... Sorted
