Right, I've recently noticed the my brake shoes on my 1.2 8v Corsa B seem to be making a grinding sort of a noise. It only happens when I press my brake peddle. I've had a look at the rear brake shoes today and they don't look like they need replacing. Is there anything else I could do?. Should I consider replacing them or could it be anything else?

emery cloth it all off and see if it helps. shoes seem to have plenty meat left
all the springs still attached fine too? i remember driving my old astra round for about a month before i realised the springs were in bits inside

Does the noise only happen when the brake is applied or are you getting a brake binding/scrub sort of thing?
If you are getting a brake scrub you can reset the automatic adjuster and set this again. I did this yesterday and its stopped any of the brake scrubbing/strange noises that i had coming from the back.

Them shoes look shit, Might just be the picture though.
Cleaning up the inside of the drum maybe worth a shout, Your adjuster will deffo be seized as they always are.

The shoes don't look too bad, can see some shiny bits here and there. Going to give them a clean. If the adjuster is seized can they be replaced?

I did the adjuster on a 96 the other day and it moved fine. If you are persistent with it you should be able to unseize it. It's just super fiddly and annoying to work on. They can be replaced

Right, I've given both insides of the drums a damn good clean. I also noticed that on the passengers side there was some grease/oil around the brake shoes, also the brake shoe felt a bit ruff. Drivers side is fine.

sometimes one side wears out quicker than the other...
same case with drums..
whoever fitted/adjusted the brake hasn't balanced them good enough

looks like the brake cylinder has been leaking onto the shoes.

yeah there not hard to change .. hardest part is getting the brakepipe out the back of it .. can sometimes end up needing a good pair of molegrips to get it out.

Yeah, mine did this and I changed the cylinders, cleaned the drums and shoes and adjusted them and they good as new parts
