Check the insurance for the 1.8 SRi because you'll get the same MPG out of it as the 1.4 but you'll actually have some power behind it.

Really? I've read the combined for the 1.8 is 35mpg and the 1.4 is 42mpg

Realistically I get about 35 in my 1.4

 | If a 1.4 is all you can stretch to, get a 1.2 SXi+ instead tbh.

The power difference between the two engines is tiny, especially when you consider the extra weight of the 1.4.

 1.2 or 1.8.

quote:Exactly. I get that with sensible driving. Even with the odd blast I can get about 315 miles from 42 litres of fuel which works out to be 34mpg.Originally posted by AlunJ

 1.2 or 1.8.

This, same with the 1.25 and 1.4 Fiesta's.

Or go for the Exclusiv for full leather and climate control comfortness.

 | pre 2004 check you can get 1st and 2nd gear smoothly as the linkage is plastic and it breaks easily. Metal replacement should be installed.

My cousin had one and then upgraded to the 1.8. The 1.8 was nice, quick enough.

 | Pre-2004's are also cambelt. The newer ones on the facelift models are chain.
