 | Dolly are technically illegal to use on the road, as the car becomes a trailer, and even if your dolly is braked, the rear wheels of the car are not, and assuming your car and dolly weigh more than 750kgs it required by law that all wheels are braked.  Quite of the camper van drivers have been getting done for it hence swapping to proper trailers,
