when i top end my car it looses speed as if i have changed down a gear sort of lol


anyone got the same problem?

i HAD that prob. changed timing belt, tensioners/pulleys. and water pump also. its cured it.

It may be that your timing is out a little. mine was. 1 of the cogs was 1 mark out for some reason. and when i revved over 3000rpm-ish, the engine had a nasty rattling sound. after 4500rpm it started losing power.

i replaced all them items and now its perfect. it was £180 to be exact. £140 for parts. £40 labour.

if your in a 1.2 8v your 4th gear is faster than your 5th gear same as most old nova's that had small engines

im in a 1.4 8 valve its not changing gear that slows down

wot i meant is the top end of a gear

so top end of 1st gear for me is 35mph once i hit 35mph the engine sudden looses power as if i was changing down a gear and goes down to about 30mph

are u talking about the rev limiter? if u rev the engine above a certain point 6000rpm on the 1.28v, the engine will stop accelerating and actually slow down.

This is a feature of the ECU to stop the eingine from being damaged!!
