I need to save this year

I want to go on holiday in July.. that will cost £700

I want to go on holiday in December.. that will cost £2000

I need money weekly for my car.. petrol / mods

I owe my brother £500 and the bank £500

and I have a £40 phone bill each month.

Plus money weekly for general stuff.. fast food.. drinks (£30)

How much do I need to be earning a week / saving a week?

edit: + £126 a month car insurance

£2000 holiday is a cruise in the Caribbean

Well, before everyone gets on here calling you a complete and utter imbecile...

Holiday in July - £100 a month will be £700 by July.

Holiday in December - £170 a month

Car, monthly, say £100 ?

Brother and Bank, repayments of £30ish each a month at a guess?

£40 a month for phone

£120-150 a month for food etc...

£620 a month, £155 a week, in theory.

Is all the holiday stuff inc. spending money? Or is that extra, also, £2k is a lot for a holiday?

Mods for the car, will obviously be a lot more as well, I only really went with petrol, guess insurance will be near enough £100 a month for you as well? So £720 a month...

It's not hard.

List your monthly outgoings - this should just include all stuff that you have to pay e.g. rent, petrol, food.

Then list your monthly income.

Your income minus your outgoings is how much you should aim to save.

If you really want to save you shouldn't be buying fast food or mods for your car.

I also think £2700 worth of holidays is optimistic based on your job threads.

Forget the fast food, thats a treat that you don't really need to be spending money on.

Cut your drinking down, you don't have to stop all together just don't drink as much.

Also put the mods on hold.

Basically do what i've done.

First, add up your total income then add up all your out goings. Then divide your outgoings by 4 and put that amount away each week.

Second, cut out all the shit, and things that are not neccercary.

Third if you want the holidays, Shop around a bit theres loads of cheap deals to be had. Ive just booked 2 holidays for this year, Which cost me less than £500. (One for 6 days, the other for 10 days)

Fourth set up a savings account with your bank account and set up a standing order for say around £10 a week or so. If you know that you can put a bit more away then put it in a pot or give it to your parents when you have it. Doing this, Ive saved over £600 already, If not more.

Fith, Think about what you are buying for your car. Do you really need it? If you think that you can't live without it shop around a bit, you might even find one alot cheaper elsewhere. Ive done this a few times already and saved loads. Also if its replacing something, Sell the part if you can. Then you could end up doing it for free.

But in all honesty, The first thing i would do is cut out the crap. Save the holidays for another time and get rid of some of the debt you have. Is it worth being in debt, With nothing to show for it?

LMFAO Doyle

Why don't you save up £1000 to pay back your brother and the bank, and then start saving for holidays?

Or is that too much like common sense?...
