Like I said I've got a Zafira and the Sedona is hardly any bigger. The appeal of the V-Class is the fact its fooking massive!

Even better, pre2001 models to avoid getting raped on tax

My cousin had one of these brand new Davey.

They got a refund.

It REALLY was that bad.

It's the one and only case that I have ever had first hand experience of somone actually 'backing' (as the scummers would say) a car (new or used) to the dealer.

LOL! Well they are very cheap for what you get, I think I need to go drive one and see if they are cheap for a reason as you say

EVERYTHING went wrong with it.

It looked pleasant enough. They ordered it in silver and with every option including AMG rims. It had little curtains and mental grey leather captain's seats all round with arm rests and so on.

It cost the fucking earth. I remember being dumbstruck when they told me the price.

They had been using a Previa which they'd had from new and wanted something similarly practical but more upmarket and roomier if poss, so they opted for the Merc.

They ended up so dissapointed as they have a family and it was supposed to be a bit of a home from home and a sort of ultimate family car for long runs and such.

It had the biggest most powerfull engine you could specify, yet it was slow and noisey and unrefined. It broke down repeatedly. Trim fell off. Things like switch gear just broke, stopped working or fell off/apart.

It suffered mechanical failures and breakages. It let water in and there was usually at least two warning lights showing on the dash.

The last straw was when the sliding door FELL COMPLETELY OFF.

Oh and it had rust, yes RUST before it was six months old.

They threw it back at Mercedes, went back to Toyota and bought a massive Landcruiser instead which never missed a beat.

Indeed. I can confirm this Davey. We get a fair few coming in for racks where I work.

The last one I worked on, I opened the side door to get the locking wheel nut set out of the back and found myself scrabbling with the entire fucking door and shouting for help to re-attach it.

I don't think i'd have one as a gift.

MK III Transit minibus all the way.

Tear out the back few seats and you've got a massive boot.

Much MUCH nicer to drive than a Vimto/V class.

RWD too of course.

They did em with climate and really good seats. I think leather was an option too on the Tourneo.

Oh and you do get autos.

Honda Shuttle 2.3, these are big, seats fold away and can get them quite cheap. Honda rarely break-down. Same with the Ford as you said you didnt want a ford.

Isues with insurance on the Minibus to.. As for the Honda.. It just shouts 'asian mans car' at the top of its voice from a very tall hill, bit like a micra or a sunny! Again not much bigger than my Zafira plus I'm not a fan of Jap cars unless they've got a boxer engine and a big fat turbo.
