So I cant take the car out for a drive and park at my house? I have to drop it back at my mums?

btw.. I live with my mum

lol

I only used the parking at a different house as an example.

You can do it. But if your mum drives to the shop once a month, but you rag it round the local bypass and j turn in Mcds every night then its your car. You drive it more. This is coming from experience.

I'm confused as to how they would find out though. They'd have to spy on him I'm sure.

If you can afford it it's worth it to go on your own and get a years no claims.

And how would they go about proving that at one point during the week you use the car and at the other point of the week your mum uses it?

E.g. My mate uses his focus to get to and from college and to and from work; and whereever else he wishes to go. And his dad takes the car from 9pm-5am every week night.

Perfectly legal if you ask me. They are both using the car.

They contact police etc. Then piece together information. Ask who they see driving it,where it sits etc. My mate had a 03 Saxo a few years ago which was a 4k car at the time. He crashed it and the insurance didn't pay a penny out as they found out that the car sat at his house and not his dads and they said it was fraud as it was his car.

Also if the majority of the contents of the car is your they will aviod paying out i.e your CD's, documents, maybe sub, clothes anything that proves your in it more than her.

Im paying £1100 tpft in my own name with 2 years NCB lol.

It was £800 on my first car (1.2sxi corsa b). Dad as the registered keeper but me as the main driver.

What does ty mean?
Why don't you just put the ownership in her name and put you as a named driver, at least that will be more legal.

Seems like a good price so long as that is your specific arrangement with your mum.

As mentioned, you shouldn't use an arrangement like this to obtain cheaper insurance but also being named on a car doesn't mean you can't legitimately use it some of the time.

I'm insured on my mums Freelander and I use that legitimately and without issue, but it's cheaper than if I were to insure it myself because she's twice my age and does very few miles anyway.

£120 a month = £1440 a year, TPFT, 18 with your mum as a main driver

Thats a hell of a lot of money considering its not even your own policy, and it will only be the same next year because of no NCB

Tis a fronted risk that, your trying to obtain a cheaper price by having your mum as the policy holder even though you will be driving the car 90% of the time

Some insures dont allow you to be named beneath your mums name until the named child is 25 or over (HIC do this).

Will still be better with Quinn in the long run as they dont give you an NCB after your first year with them as they give you a good introductory bonus. Works out cheaper in the long run sticking with them though. Did with me. If you can afford to pay for your own policy, do it, it will help to make your premium cheaper quicker if you build up your own NCBs.

I'd rather be crashed into by him than some nugget that has banged a xe in and not declared it. 2.0 in reality, 12v on paper.
