Ok, I have taken the catalic convertor(sp?) of or the donor car I used for an engine. I have heard of people selling these, and wondered who buys them, and how much they are worth?

Many thanks

Don't sell it to a scrap yard, Call your local metal recyclers. They'll pay more as the scrap yard just sells it on to the recycler anyway.

Genuine cats are worth more as they contain more platinum.

Last place I used looked down the pipe inside the cat and could tell. God knows how he knows but he does. Must be by the weave like stated above.

My mate can tell too, He works in a scrap yard.

Doesn't matter whether its genuine or aftermarket, as long as the thing isn't knackered on the inside and is fine, you're looking at about £25 to £30 for a cat. I've taken quite a few to my local metal recycler, both genuine GM and aftermarket ones, and got the same price for both with no hastle.

If its knackered and the insides are all broken down, then it's only worth its weight in scrap, so 50p...

Pattern ones are worth less than genuine ones.

Look down the cat.. If its got a square matrix (like a grid) then its worth about £20 or so, if it looks like a spiral is worth nothing.
