Right, some of you may remember that about 4 weeks ago a taxi reversed into the back of me. The taxi driver admitted fault and the taxi firm told me to take it to the garage that deals with their repairs. I took my car along about two and a half weeks ago and the guy said he'd contact the taxi firm to make sure it was legit then contact me in a few days. I've heard nothing since. I've called twice and left messages, heard nout. Even went back to the garage but he wasn't in. So I've since contacted the taxi firm on Monday, claimed they'd speak to the garage and still NOUT. When I went into the taxi office today, i just got the run around.

What should I do? I told them today that if I hear nothing by tomorrow then I'm going to get my own quote then they can pay for it. However, worried they're going to refuse to do that. What come back do i have, if any, if they do that?

should have gone through the insurance looks like they going to fob you off and your not go to get any money from anyone. I would try insuracne but even if you claim now on your insurace they may turn around and say why are you claiming noe and not reported before now and be as equally awkward

I would ring your insurance company immediately and explain what happened. Just tell them you have been waiting for his insurance company to contact you but nothing has happend.

See what they have to say about the situation.

It's a small amount of damage though? Scratched paint on the bumper. I don't want it to affect my insurance premium. Looks like I'll have to though.

Can I go to the police about it now without them laughing me out of the station? Yea, there's a bodywork section right next to them thats apparently part of bolts. Going to phone and ask to speak to the owner in a minute since I keep having to speak to the man that crashed into me. He deals with mechanic side of things for magnum apparently. I got his name, details of taxi model(a transit mini van) taxi number, reg plate etc. He gave me his work address obv as it's not his own car

they wont laugh, but not a lot you can do, they will ask you what proof have you that he hit you, and when you have no proof and no witnesses etc then its game over really

I have a damaged car and three neighbours who saw it lol. Anyway, phoned and asked to have the owner call me, five minutes later the guy from the garage called and apologised for the wait and that he'd just spoken to said owner and when would I like to take my car in Odd but result all the same.

He did? Apparently they do all repairs for them. When I went down, the guy said they have a sort of deal with them for all their repairs as it's cheaper than insurance excess. Apparently though, that taxi firm is bad for drivers crashing into folk. Either way, it's getting sorted. Only worry is if he does a shit job. Then what

Thats why I always say to people no matter whether its a scratch or a dent go through insurance at least you will have a come back if the quality of the work is suspect and you get a waranty on the work.

Did i not say to go through insurance? i am sure i did... and after having experience of not going through insurance - if and when some one will crash into my car, insurance will be notified unless they pay up on the spot.

You can still moan dear but you'll either be greeted with "Feck off" or "how about we do a special deal pet?"

I've been stung by this once before so its all a learning curve

Well, the bumper has been resprayed. From a distance, looked okay etc. Got it home, it's shocking Can quite clearly see where he's painted as there is a very harsh sudden colour change. Not really blended AT ALL.

Had another good look today and where he's painted isnt really blended at all. So time to kick up a fuss with the taxi firm to get it done again. Can you get a taxi driver into trouble for crashing into you? If so, i plan to threaten him with this haha.
