In the case of the 3 door cossies, the statistic I heard was that there were more reported stolen than made, so on average they had been nicked more than once each.

I always associate Escort Cosworth's with being stolen I would love to own one and i would say that buying one is a good investment which is rare with cars.

There legendery cars, one i'd love to notch on my bed post, however I just think i'd forever be looking out the window at it scared that its not all it seems.

Owning a cossie would be like having a super model wife thats a convicted murdered............sure you'll be the envy of your mates until she stabs you to death in your sleep one night!!

They certainly seem to be holding up well depreciation wise.

escort cossie costs you the same as buying:
evo
scooby
pulsar
calibra turbo
gt4

of the same age but with the prices all added together, and new they were the same sort of money each!

Mental, I remember someone telling me that police had a job retrieving stolen cossies because often they were re-stolen by another thief before an arrest could be made on the 1st guy.

Not sure id want a car with a history...no matter how good it was.

I know what you mean, they have a pretty bad reputation in that sense but i guess it's one of those cars you would really need to do your homework on before buying, but also spending that sort of money on a car of that age needs alot of research anyway!

Probably down to numbers built, only a couple thousand escos - probably many times over of the others were made.

Also Fords cult following is second to none.

If you think escos's are bad, try asking on the RSOC about RS500 chassis numbers and which way they are meant to be stamped, LOL

Sure does. If I HAD to have one, id be buying nothing short of an RSOC members car with a solid history....even if it means paying a bit more for it. Too many crooks past & present to buy just anything when these are involved.

I can imagine!!

A neighbour had one about 15yrs ago, a show winner. It never left his garage, where he used to get under it & polish the bits nobody can see & was trailored to shows then trailored home again. Only had it 3-4 months then he got rid of it very quickly.......ive often wondered why!! Probably found out that it wasnt legit in some way, either that or he was fed up having a car he feared driving!!

i'd much rather spend £12k on that than on one of the tupperware boxes that are sat in showrooms today. there would be nothing to think about or research for me.

that is gorgeous.
