Lol took the liberty of emailing DVLA last night for a laugh about engine coversions and the reply was,
i even threw them an oddball that the engine number is un-readable due to corrosion.......
reply was please fill in the v5 CHANGES section with the new cylinder capacity and write NOT KNOWN in the engine number section due to the corrosion...
also written confirmation of the change is also required which can take form of.
proof of insurance in written confirmation....
proof in the way of reciept of purchase for the engine to prove capacity...
written confirmation from the manufacturer...
or written confirmation from a garage with regards to the capacity
so as long as you can get the capacity proved and insurance proved they will do the change... and nothing was mentioned about it being banned/illegal etc etc quite a friendly email i recieved

This comes as no shock to me. As far as I was aware if your not changing tax bracket they don't need proof of new engine capacity.

normally they aer sweet with going from low capacity to a higher one, they just get shitty when you go from a high one to a low one.

they do. if you go from a 1.0 to a 1.4 you need to say what cc your engine is or your v5 is a fake. any changes made to colour of car or engine cc or engine number should be informed to the dvla. its the law you know.
also to the email you got. the people that work their havent got a clue about anything. id completely ignore that. they are banning engine conversions.
