My car has one without BS markings or postcode on the rear. Passed the last few MOT's. Then again there is nothing special about it.

I think they'd have to be a picky tester to fail you on that.

By law it does have to have either the bs stamp or post code on them but as said you would have to get a picky tester, id imagine the fact there pressed plates though they may fail

Illegal Mate. The spacing is wrong between the 7 and the J as has already been said. And, correct me if im wrong but i think the font isnt standard either :S Plus no BSnumber or makers Postcode.

For the price of getting some knocked up today, it outweighs the retest when it fails on illegal spacing mate.

Your car was built before the new regs so as long as the spacing is ok and the font doesnt take the piss it will be fine.

just bought new legal plates and they have the makers postcode at the bottom. Pair of plates here in NI including fittings is only £12, would not risk it imo.

yep pressed plates are illegal full stop unless pre 1973 and black and white.
VOSA are hot on number plates at mo. Had a roadside check around here a few months back and were pulling peoples cars off the road because of them!
Harsh but if they are illegal, dont fit them!

This was put into the MOT in April 2008 and was removed again in May as there was some law that stopped it !
Some of the laws have been put back in place such as font size and spacing but postcodes and B/S numbers were not! And the laws that were changed were only on post sept 2001 vehicles.
