anyone know any good products for this?

the bay on the mk1 is solid as a rock but its just got dirt/grease/oil there which i want to get rid of..

is there any products i could put on and jet wash off? or aint that a good idea?

Swarfega Degreaser.. You can get it form Halfords for about 6 quid for a 3 litre container.

Mix it with water and put it in a spray bottle then spray on all over the engine, it literally just eats through the oil and shit.

Use it 1:1 at first to shift the serious grime then in future keep it clean by spraying it on mixed 10:1..

You shouldnt really need to.. Gunk is amazing stuff, a rinse after youve brushed it all should do.

you could use a jet wash but just dont go too close.

if you do apply heavy water to engine bay then leave it a good few hours to dry it out so you dont short any circuits

You wont get any short circuits on a modern engine unless you literally put the engine under-water

I normally use Gunk aerosol but the Swarfega more economical.

Can the second one be diluted or is it purely a spray on? I thin kthe brush on one is the same as the aerosol stuff.

Bottom one Terry.

Use neat, either decant into a small pot and brush on, or put in a trigger bottle and spray on. Agitate with brush and rinse off with low flow open hose. Ideally with electrics covered and engine running.

Like I said I always use gunk aerosol but the one you suggested is better value.

thought of the cheap crap you get from machine mart... i got a 5L bottle a few months back and by jove it cuts through 33 years of crap in a few seconds...

gunk is the way forward tho its ace stuff
