There is your answer then, they aren't banging on about it for the sake of it.

I actually agree with you regarding this...

I really hate how 'hyped' it is at the moment, so you can just stick a nurburgring badge on a normal Astra VXR and it makes people want it more... etc ojc

But seriously, it's getting a bit stupid with manufacturers battling it out for the fastest times at nurburg as it's not actually a great bench mark for real life / normal drivers. Also when manufacturers start cheating using different tyres / moving the start finsh slightly / edit video to make it quicker etc - it kinda makes it all pointless anyway.

After going there 3 times, it's got a bit boring for me even... but half of nurburg is the atmosphere of the place, the cars, the piss ups, the 'group convoying there and back', the crashes etc. Actually driving on track is only a small part of it all and chasing times even smaller part (as you'd have to have a method of timing / filming, which both are banned).

I was blown away when I went, had no idea what to expect but I really was impressed. It is an amazing place, much better than I had anticipated. Anyone who has never been is in no position to pass judgement.

I'm not disagreeing, I fully believe I'd find it amazing, I wouldn't come back and look down on anybody who hasn't been though.
