Been a massive fan of these for a long time, and always wanted one. As i'll be moving out soon i'm tempted to treat myself to one while I can still afford it......
I know a couple of people on here have got/had one, so just after a few opionions really with regards to running costs, insurance etc etc.
Also, is there any decent forums out there I can have a gander on to read up on them?
Cheers

ive driven both, and the driving position of the z4 feels awful, you cant toe n heal (well you can but its difficult, and i guess not that many people know what that is or what its for so i guess thats not an issue) im 5'11 and i couldnt really see over the long bonnet, from driving it i felt it was as big as a boat (dont forget tho im used to driving the VX) power was ok, and it was comfortuble.. but i would NEVER have a z4 over a s2000

Well ive never driven either of them but its personal preference isn't it at the end of the day, and I prefer the looks of a z4, especially the M sport coupe! but that is a lot more money than a s2000 I know....
But even the 3.0 Roadster is more appealing to me, the sound of the 3.0 straight 6 would just be awesome, interior is very nice, not sure which would be faster as they both weight about the same and have similar bhp but with the bmw having a lot more torque (300 as aposed to 208lb-ft) id imagine the Z4 would be better off, and at the end of the day its BMW not a Honda.

I'd have a Z4M over a S2000...
but then a Z4M is considerably more money and worse on fuel.
S2000 is alright, don't expect miracles from performance though. Depends what you're used to previously.
I've given my coilovers to make it handle more precisely, wider wheels and tyres for more grip... Now got Decat, Manifold, Spoon intake and J's Racing ECU.
Definately improves low down / mid range performance and makes the car a lot more drivable... also a bit quicker too.
The one thing with the s2000 is it's quite heavy as standard... so lose weight where you can (standard exhaust for example is 34 kg, but a j's racing one is only 5kg ... 29kg lost right there) and basic breathing mods.
The car will stick to the road like glue, you'll feel so safe in it and it'll feel quite boring to drive, until you get to a point and it lets go!
best bit is top down driving. never thought I'd like it as much as I do.

That is brilliant weight loss on that exhaust Paul.
I bet you notice the difference straight away with that kind of weight loss.

Driven both, the S2000 is a far more involved drive! More race orientated and it feels more sporty when you sit in it - also revving the nuts off it to 9k rpm always helps!
I spent about £30 per week on fuel, driving it hard most of the time. Totally reliable (watch the oil though)
I would defo have the S2000 again, I used mine every day and drove as far as London comfortably! handles so well too

Thing is, people who test drive the s2000 will often initially find it quite a dull drive. When driven fairly hard but not too far, it sticks a lot. Also people generally arnt used to having absolutely no low down power and so they say change at 7.5k rpm and say it felt really slow.
It's not 'that fast' anyway, but unless you change at around 8.5-9k in every gear the car really won't move as quick as it should.

The car was built to run like that so no more than to be expected. Its the same as your car on boost.
