All I hear is they are crap, don't get one, why?
I've never heard a proper answer, just bandwagon material.

too many people are comparing them to the 200quid orbital polishers. i used to have one and it was hell of a lot better and easier than polishing by hand

my dad got one ages ago, It still works, no problems at all.
Those "proper" ones are vastly over price, they are just a grinder with a low speed setting.

Absoloute toss, might as well do it with your hands!
Invest in a proper variable speed machine polisher.

Not really.. Proper ones have variable speed and they power up slowly so you dont accidently burn your paint.
I've got Ravelli mop, it was just under £200 (with no heads) and worth every penny.. I've had it for about 8 years and it works just as well today as it did when I bought it

You definitely want something with soft start for proper compound polishing.
Plus, for what the Halfords things does, you may as well be doing it by hand. I've got one and it's total bollocks, used it once and it's been in the box since. It's an absolute dog, totally useless unless your car has no curves and is just a flat sheet of material.

Plus the general quality of it is total crap, feels cheap, noisy, absolute bollocks.

Its defo not good enough for cutting laquer away I know that, but I would say good just for buffing off normal polish.

The problem with the Halfrauds jobby is that compared to a "proper" DA polisher it doesnt have the same power or throw. You can get a really good DA polisher called the Kestrel DA for around £70 which is a lot cheaper than the Meguiars DA at £200 but it has the same power and the same 8mm throw making it a really good option imo.

That polisher above is a rotary polisher and in the hands of someone who doesnt know what they`re doing will take the clear coat and paint off your car

The polishers are just grinders, a cheap one will do the same job.
As long as you're not an idiot you shouldn't get burn through either.
I'm getting an ebay one soon.

I would use my grinder but the lowest setting is still high at 4000rpm, needs to be more like 1000rpm.

Yip defo need a lower speed, apart from that it's just a grinder though.
The others are overpriced because they are for 'detailing'.

It does nothing that you cant achieve with your hands.. It just saves you a tiny tiny bit of effort but is it worth all the agro of getting it out plugging it in and the cost.

I have a silverline one. Its quite easy to use. At first I didnt realy come off speed 1 or 2. As you get more confident you start using higher speeds. I get pretty good results using it. Just dont use it too often.
