Thats a bit backwards ranting about unemployment then suggestion people rob petrol stations. If everyone done that then the garage/logistic's companysupplier etc would go out of business and more people would be out of work.

If we run riot the government would just call in the army to run petrol stations and it would bring the country to its knee's resulting in more unemployment

You cant say your hard done to, you have a focus st. And you are not paying for them in tax or fuel duty etc, your NI contribution pays for unemployment and that is a very small amount.

No it wouldnt, it would just be a protest showing that we wont bend over and take the shafting - either lower prices back to around 80p a litre or loose all your revenue from fuel duty and let the country fall into chaos.

As for the scrappage scheme, its false economy. People who run 10 year old cars worth under 2k do so because they cant afford a new car. So by trading it in and buying a new car they are only plummeting themselves into debt they cant afford which will only expand the problem further a few more years down the line when people are getting the cars reposessed and missing bill payments etc because the deal looked good at the time. Scrappage scheme is a temporary boost to a problem that will remain as the auto trade is beginning to demise.

The scrappage scheme was just a clever way to bail out car manufacturers, however it isnt beneficial to any british factories or marques as 70% of the cars being bought are built in foreign factories anyway. So all were really doing is putting 300 million of taxpayers money into the pockets of foreign manufacturers, but no one can see it like that because of the shiny new car they are looking at.

Your hardly taking a shafting paying some tax to run a car Other countrys pay less on fuel but they will make up for it in another way either through a different tax, lack of public services or having to live in an absolute dump of a country.

Scrappage scheme helped this country as far as keeping the motor industry ticking along and all the related business that would have folded should it have been allowed to fail.

Its not easy times just now so we'll all just have to suffer until it gets back on track, simple as that. By declaring that we should steal fuel is just stupid....what would that gain apart from your personal benefit??

Exactly, would you rather pay an extra 50p a litre on your fuel than America or have to find £30k should you need to have an x-ray

I don't see why this 2p rise has caused such a fuss. I've known about it for nearly 6 months

Imagine how fucked you'd be if duty on new cars was much higher some contries are like 50-100% duty.

Taking a hit on petrol with a view to kickstart the economy isnt that much of a hardship when the country needs the funds..

I can imagine when VAT goes back up at the end of the year everyone will be up in arms even though they knew well it was only temporary.

I personally think they should abolish road tax and stick all the tax & duty on fuel....then you pay for exactly what you use!!

Vat drop hardly done anything imo.......ive certainly not noticed any extra cash in my pocket!!

As for the VAt rise at the end of the year this will add further to fuel so people will cry some more come new year

The rises annoy people so much because it's taxing people who (for the most part) go out and work hard to get a car then need to fuel it, for the money to be given to all the scrounging dregs of society, who then go and buy bits for their cars while on the dole.

We shouldn't be financing the fuck up the banks made, or any of the other crap they spend it on.

True but unemployment is at an all time high so cutting benefits etc isnt an option for the government is it?

Ideally people should do community service for their dole money but is it ever going to change? I doubt it

But it'll be that way by the time the VAT rise comes and I think that £1.20 a litre is pathetic.

When I was in Menorca last week it was 96 euro cents for diesel (~90p) and 110 euro cents for petrol (~98p) which according to the locals was way too much anyway!?

We are being fucked over by our own government

Yes but i bet duty on cars is higher as is road tax out there. All swings and roudabouts.

Imagine paying 50% more on a car so a Fiesta diesel ends up being 18k....thats what its like in portugal!
