im goin to look at a car at the weekend its a 1996 p reg mk 3 astra 1600 ls? is this a 8v or a or a shitotech???? i cant find info on it

I'd say an 8v. Do you know the reg? http://www.askmid.com/ownvehicle/ and it should say. If not try an insurance quote.

it aint his car its his mrs's sister a thot it would be a 8v myself but the thought of it bein a ecotech is driving me mad!!! nah i aint got the registration cant make it out on the pic

What's the big deal with getting an ecotec instead of an old 8v.

It's a 1.6 astra, not as if there will be any speed difference.

there very tempromental! i dont lke the new engines to many sensors and they make it enar enough impossible to work on but with the old 8v there so much more reliable and easier to work with !

tbh a 1.6 16v ecotec will be a damned sight better than an 8v anyway.

All engines have problems but they are not hard engines to work on at all.

the only bit of work iv done on one was a timeing belt on my cousins 1400 sport and theres just to much unnecacery clutter in my opinion . if it is a ecotec i suppose im willing to give it a try as the car is white and is in imaculate condition ! and a price i cant turn down !
