So its cost £1.5k to upgrade to the new one?

He got what he paid for the one he put in (which is possible with the dip in the car market, mines gained px value in the 6 months ive had it!).

If so it doesn't seem like that bad a deal!!

Id seriously just leave it to avoid a fall out with your grandad. You know how old folk are stuck in their ways and dont like people to inter fear.

yeah sorry its not clear. He thinks he has paid 1.5k to upgrade. but i dont beleive that the garage gave him the exact same price he for his car that he paid 6 months earlier, he smokes in it and he has twatted the wing mirror. Im going to look at the paperwork and see whats what then go from there i think.

Or he is old and easily persuaded into things so people can take advantage. This topic is me asking if there is any legal angle i can take concerning somone that has been tricked into paying over the odds for something, not wether you think he is a 'sap.' Hes 87 ffs, and he has been done by some twat of a car salesman.

to add some perspective to this thread and please dont take this the wrong way Adam, just trying to offer a view from a salesmans point of view...

I work with lots of older folk, who often ask for a new phone etc when there is nothing wrong wih their current one. Now if he is of sound mind and what not then they cant refuse to sell him something if he wants it?! Obviously the bloke could of jedi'd him into thinking hes saving money or maybe theres a general reason for selling him a new car with less hassle as Colin said? Remember that not all salesman are cunts and that your grandad may have been happy with the deal?

Its sometimes a tough call but so long as the salesman has explained everything and hes happy to go ahead, he cant turn him away because hes old?

Obviously as Adam said if you are concerned that hes been ripped off then a courteous call with good manners is whats needed to obtain the facts. Going in guns blazing on an issue like this would not help matters.

If the bloke has jedi'd him then of course consult the CAB etc to resolve it. Btput also mind your grandad may not want the stress if hes happy?

Either way i hope you get it sorted.

Yeah i know what your saying dude, i wouldnt have ever gone up there just going nuts, like i said i need to see the paperwork to see exactly whats gone down. I might be wrong and he might have got a fair deal but i really dont trust this garage. If its dodgy i'll be looking at consumer advice.

It is very possible they have gave him what he paid for his old one. Very very possible!!

The car market was on its knees 6 months ago, its come round now and things are moving much better.

My M3 (im repeating myself now!!) had a px value of about 16.5-17k when I bought it for 18.6, the current price for a px on glass guide is 18.5.

I don't think they have stung him at all or at least not as badly as you may think?
