clayed first and applied with a clean microfibre pad and buffed off with a microfibre, i was polishing the car about 10pm so definately wasnt baked on. i dunno whether i was overusing the amount of polish i had on the pad because it was hard work buffing it off with the microfibre

Sounds like it then. Only need pea sized blob per wing sized panel / 1/2 a bonnet sort of thing. Apply using slightly damp pad and apply ultra thinly
