They're an old Ford 2.0 8v out of a Ford Pinto originally. However in Europe they were used in European models of Fords as we didn't get the Pinto (car).

What kit car you looking at ?

Thinking of this or similar. Seems to be a commonly used engine in them.

Could very well be true. I doubt it takes a lot to get a car up to emissions standards over there.

My mate had a kit car with a pinto on Webber 45's. Was quick but only because the car weighed nothing. It was reliable and easy to work on though.

Guy i know gets a 2.0 pinto and bores them out to a 2.2 then you can use 2.0 diesel con rods to beef it up for turboing... He used to race them, and if you type in harris escort into google he know's a few of them..
