My mum drives a E36 BMW 323,loves the car to bits and why wouldnt she its lovely to drive and is a fairly rare colour
She had a bump in it, no more than 20mph into the back of a pug 207
Bent the bonnet, bent the grille surround panel and bust the radiator, the insurance company got a quote for repairs using brand new BMW parts any one guess how much?
£3800! for those parts its a fucking joke, so the insurers wrote it off but she bought it back, got £1665 from the insurers so as a little project im fixing it up, got a good deal to get the bonnet and grille pannel sprayed, £120 and ill do the rest
So far its cost:
Bonnet: £50
Grille panel - £11.99
Grille - £3.97
Radiator: £20
Fan - £11.25
and bought some angel eyes for it because it was lacking something - £50
pics of damage:

Insurance and bodyshops are a big scam full stop
they price for genuine panels but use cheap pattern parts

They also bump prices up, so the car can be written off, gets older cars off the road !

Maybe its because of the colour?
My hairdresser had an E46 convertible in a BMW individual colour. Someone drove down the side of it, cost thousands to repair because of the colour, parts weren't that bad it was the paint.

parts for the e36 are really expensive, a new door for example is £521.74 + VAT, but it does seem a little steep,
i quote for genuine parts and only use genuine parts unless the customer wishes to use pattern/ second hand to bring the cost down

Pattern parts are usually crap too, like that VW Camper you're doing and the wing on that Sierra you did at mine a while back.

Shit bodyshop then....
Good bodyshops will use genuine parts were possible and only resort to patten/2nd hand parts if theres no brand new genuine items around.

£3800
The only difficult bit is the front panel as it needs welded in.
Since it needs a new aircon fan, take it the aircon rad isn't fucked?
Angel eyes, is that the CCFL proper bmw ones that retrofit or the whole headlight ones?

fuuuuuuuuck I was thinking about the metal bit above the rear bumper
Its quite a good design that, how the crossmember bolts on too, makes engine swaps easy.
