I think they are fun because they are on a f15 box. you dont need tb's mine keeps up with my brothers gti xsi. dont get me wrong its faster but it keeps up and does wll, i thought it would eat me alive. really wanna drag the two and see the massive weight difference.

im not knocking the small blocks, i used to run a fairly decent specced one that would drill 106 gti's, but for the money it will cost someone id go 20xe. people seem to want the power for hardly any money, and a small block can get very expensive if went for 200bhp where as the 20xe is a set of tb's and a proper ex manifold(obv fresh engine not a tired one)

Aye but I like the fact I could stick Carbs on the XE Plus it'll be quicker than an X18XE1 standard for standard, and a cheaper engine tae!

XE or LET.
only way id stick with the small block now is:
1. insurance/age
2. all out track car when building a mega spec track car(i.e corsa or nova)
fully rebuilt xe with ported head, new pistons with deeper pockets, full balance will be about £1300. inc all bearings, gaskets, machining etc
potential then for decent lift cams, carbs etc
1300 is alot to spend on a xe that is probably going to be put in a corsa with rust, let alone labour costs
no way, that would be a fucking FAST corsa...
1300 for that amount of performance is an absoloute bargain tbh

When you also consider the potential for more power too. £1300 would get you a set of TB's and cam's for a X16XE
