Dave didn't use the reducer iirc. He said it didn't fit something, was the wrong size.
I still have a reducer but haven't got round to trying it on my car yet.

I did use my reducer in the end. I got a "Remus" one off LMF which blatantly wasn't Remus at all
The large end fitted into the backbox perfectly, but the small end was the same size as the centre section pipe. What I did in the end was cut the small end off with a hack saw and now it fits fine.
No welding or griding required, all you will need is a 13mm spanner (I recommend Halfords ratchet ones as it makes it a million times easier) and a 50mm U clamp. There will be a 45mm clamp on there already that providing you don't butcher, you can re-use. I replaced mine though because it was properly rusty
Edit: I have a pic of how it's attached now but it's not in my garage. I'll upload it tonight

I didn't take it off, the only time it was off was to fit the reducer
Right annoying how it keeps hitting the axle though
This is how it is now:

I don't think so, it maybe made it a bit tighter but it's not that much different. Apparently you can sometimes fix the knocking by loosening off the backbox and playing with where it's clamped on the centre section pipe and all that, but I couldn't get it to sit high enough above the axle
