Hi my bro just got pulled over and they've stung him £30 for having the front windows tinted too much. They did however, pass the MOT fine, do the Police have a different view on these than the testing stations?
Secondly, he has a problem with short journeys with his car that if you turn it off it doesn't always turn back on! He believe it's the alternator. Anyway... when he got out to talk to the Police, he left the car running for this reason. Just before the Police left, they said oh we're going to charge you another £30 for leaving your car running whilst talking to us (cock!). Is this even a real charge!? Sounds pretty ridiculous to me. My bro wants to contest this as the copper didn't anything about this until he charged him.

They will pass an mot, but in the eyes of the law there shouldn't be anything on the front windows.
Also the second charge is basically leaving a car running unattended. I think you can even get done if you leave the keys in the ignition, but with out the engine running.

They're both offences.
The Police are also under no obligation to give you legal advice.

At the minute, Im thinking of taking my front tints off as their starting to look tatty. There only very light, but with the amount of people getting pulled for them, is it worth the hastle.

It's because you're not in control of it.

What's it gonna do drive off on it's own lol? I think he's just extra annoyed because usually he wouldn't of left it running obviously, it's only because it has that problem.

The system is wank.
Something has to pay for our police force, and it seems to be the motorist. Fines are thrown left, right and center at people behind the wheel, whereas real criminals, ie. drug dealers, terrorists. are left to roam free.
Driving makes you vulnerable to the law. Before i got my car, i had never been in trouble with the police. Now, i feel asif im doing something wrong, just for driving
Sorry for the rant
