bro just got his ibiza cupra mapped, the guy said it'll take some time for the ecu to learn what to do or something as its still boosting near std
is this right or has he been ripped off?

what's the point in having a car re-mapped to run on std boost, think he's having you on.

If its running 12psi after it has been mapped then it proberbly has a boost leak from somewhere.......Does it still have the standard dump valve?

you bought a mapped ecu tho so it could have been running on another car before hand so that when it was pllugged in it was at potential?

It should improve slightly after a short run. The ECU will still be learning values after a reset, update etc... However it should be higher than standard boost from the off. He should be able to tell driving away from the place. I did

no thats not your problem at all
I had a ko3s cupra
I ran several valves on my cupra including a split-r
007p performs best but a split r wouldn't be that bad!
thats a load of shit imo regarding learning
youd feel it instantly

its running 15psi now. so he's happier.
he's hoping to go for a better map peaking at 1.6 bar and settling at 1.2 bar once his new turbo is on.

Why would it learn it when that is the map it is set to? Surely it would adjust to that map immediately as thats its new and only map?

On all 1.8 20VT Engines and ECU once the cars Been Mapped With the car is still in learn mode....
Like For example i made 197bhp then went back 3days later and made 204bhp & 286lb-ft....
The reason Being the Ecu take time to require you natural Driving & Genrael Knock & G/s,Actual Vs requested, wastegate duty ect......
Once its Run in it will be quicker....alot quicker
A Stage 1 or 2 genric Map Should spike at 20-21psi and @ around 4krpm settle to 16psi then down again to 10-13psi....If its a K03s Unit its a tad More.
