i know you dont wanna hear it, but if you're on a power hunt you could end up spending over a grand just getting it to the same power as a standard vts.

I ran a 1.2 SXi with a 1400 16v sport engine in for about a year, no probs at all, got stopped by police in it, even rang the police myself and had them inspect it when someone vandalised it, never asked anything or checked etc, at my work we never have no insurance company people check the cars out, just the estimators take pics of the car and forward them onto the insurance etc.

If you're aiming it to be competent on Track, don't spunk your cash away on Engine Mods - get it Stripped, and concentrate on the Chassis instead - Proper Suspension, Bushing, Brakes etc

Engine swap and dont tell them, no one will have a clue you swapped from 8v to 16v. the capacity stays the same so really your not breaking the law.

It wouldn't be checked by the insurer.
That's why so many people do it and get away with it.
