Lately it seems everything has gone wrong with the Corsa. We've had it since November 2007 and the first year it was flawless. The past six months however it seems every possible thing has broken on it.

Everything from small things like interior bulbs to engine related issues like ignition coil, lambda sensor, gear linkage and a lot more has needed fixing.

The car is from 2001 and has only run 62.000 miles, so I figure there should be a lot of miles left in it. I just don't want to keep throwing money at it.

So, would you sell it for a younger model (which may also start breaking) or use some of the cash on changing all the faulty parts and hope it gets better?

These are problems you get with all mass produced cars, just depends on the luck of the draw.

I'm not happy with it, it keeps breaking.

I don't have any particular relationship to my car. It's main purpose is to get me from A to B. If it fails doing so, I'm not happy with it.

I think I might end up changing it for a 2005 model with half the miles and hope it's better.

This is my third Corsa and fifth car and none of the others have had near as many problems in the years I had them, as this one has had the last six months... I just keep thinking, that sooner or later I will have changed all the parts that have been wore down.

Cars get to a point where a lot goes wrong all in a close period of time, then once all fixed up tend to be ok again - sounds like it's going through that stage atm.

I tend to get shot before it gets to that stage as I really cba with the hassle and expense personally!

Yes.

I bought a car a while back, engine blew up by the time I got home, put a rod through the block.
Put another engine in a day later, the morning after that one blew up, 16 bent valves and a damaged piston.
Another engine went in, and then the rad just burst for no reason.
Then an electrical fault happened, had to sort that.
Everything just kept going wrong.

Bought the car for £1650, sold it for £850 after all the work, sometimes you've just got to cut your losses I think pal!

Can't face selling it, had since I was 16 and put too many hours into in to let it go

No, once the parts have been fixed or replaced theres no reason for it to go wrong again.

Ive had 3 corsa gsi's and all of them broke the gearboxes, blew the head gaskets and had other problems such as dodgy fan switches and ICV problems but once rectified they were reliable as hell, and any other cars i bought just didnt seem to take the abuse the corsas did so i will more than likely buy another one too.

Luck of the draw really, if a car is abused by its previous owners then all manner of things could go wrong, its the gamble you take with used cars though!
