Who's had one?
Opinions on them, and what they'd be like to live with day to day
Reliability costs, general points to look out for and potential would be appreciated too!
I expect some Fix It Again Tomorrow remarks already tbh

Mine done 60k to 100k with no problems, I never really looked after it properly either.
Only thing that kept going was downpipe but that was because of the engine mounts being shot.
Got them sorted and it was fine, was really fast as well.
I still like them, handle a bit iffy but no worse than a Corsa.

No problems at all, needed a set of plugs when I first got it as it was boost cutting.
That was it. PAS never really worked properly when I got it either, but it was a GT1 on an L-plate so it was always going to have niggles.
I liked mine, wouldn't mind another TBH at some point.

Good to hear that
Was looking at one as a replacement for the corsa for a year or two to save some money (cars can be picked up pretty cheap now and insurance is less )
Been looking at them for a while!

Yeah, insurance at the time was cheaper on a Punto GT than a Nova GSi.

Yeah, true dat.
Going to need money spent on it, rear trailing arms always fail on them and knock badly as well.

I loved mine, was a good wee car. Same as Ojc mine needed plugs and that was my only real problem with it.

Mine was fine too, did 30k miles in it with no problems. Kept it serviced, needed trailing arms. Running 150bhp.
Dunno if I want one now, most are prob hammered.

alot of them are bags of these days my friend has had a 190bhp one and a 150bhp one,
really need looking after one and really need to invest in a good one really.
They are boost happy cans running about 0.8bar standard to get there 133bhp.
tbh id say starlet is a better buy as they only run 0.6bhp to get the same 133bhp and there also 16v compared to the 8v. there generally better kept as being a more expensive car? matter of opinion but very good reliable jap cars

When I was looking at them a while back, it seemed that so many of them have been modified (badly). I'd try to find one that didn't have an engine bay full of parts from Halfords because I'd trust it a bit more

my punto was fine, i had it for just under 2 years i think, and the trailing arms went on the back, but thats a common problem, and i think the linkage on the gearbox went so you couldn't select 4th gear.
deffinatly a quick car, and i found mine quite reliable.
