For starters a diesel isn't cool IMO, they might look cool until you start it up.
Depends on your journeys really an e36 320i is actually the worst 6 cylinder e36 for fuel economy a 323i,325i or 328i do better to the gallon, my 323i on long journeys always does 34mpg every time.

ive just got an mr2 turbo, if you get an mr2, get a turbo youll just feel abit cheated if you went for an NA. Look at Rev 3s aswell, few basic breathing mods and upped boost will get you into low 13s on the strip.
