Should you not have some sort of notice to tell you when it expires  You're meant to keep it road legal, no-one is going to remind you!

£45 fine plus £35 court costs and a producer. It is a non endorsable offence (no points) and as long as there are no visual defects to your car (bald tires etc) then they cant put a prohibition notice on it either.

Tbh you'd be incredibly unlucky to be caught driving with out an MOT, a mate of mine at work has just discovered his bike hasn't had a MOT for 6 months and he's never been pulled.
Also, iirc the ANPR system isn't linked to any MOT databases so if you were pulled you'd have to give the cop a reason to suspect you had no MOT otherwise odds are they wouldn't even think of it.

It flags up as no mot, i know as i got stopped 3 times on the way to heathrow for it by cops with ANPR cameras.

I got pulled for having no MOT, got £60 fine I think. It was a month or so out, police car followed me, checked the plate, found out there was no MOT on it

i got pulled up in my old car, didnt even relise the mot had run out, i fort i had a couple of days left, he got out his ticket pad thing then looked acrros into the passenger seat and for some reason let me go as i was with a girl? possibly just a nice officer

this happened to me once, got a 7 day wonder and then when i took my documents in the MOT had expired by about 3 days. i got it MOT'd the next day and wrote a covering letter to whom ever. and never heard nothing back.
