Just a quick question, getting some new rubber on the wheels i've had sat in my garden for ages to stick on my corsa. Car currently doesn't have alloy wheels, how much extra on average will it cost to insure a car with alloy wheels than one without them, and im guessing i just ring my insurance company and tell them?
Cheers Liam

normally goes up 20% per inch bigger than the std wheels the car came with originally. so if you had 14's and put 15's on, it will go up 20% for example. its also a good idea to inform your work or house insurance due to the added security risk your car now becomes due to it being more attractive to thieves and vandals. giving the police your reg and details of your vehicle is advisable incase anyone steals it they will already know it had alloys and know what to look for.

It depends on the insurance companies, some of them it costs you extra, and some let you off. It also depends if you have locking wheel nuts or not, as it could cost you if you haven't as they'll be more easier to steal. So it only depends on who your with and there views with modifications, hope that helps Liam.

I had my 15" Astra alloys on my car when I was with Quinn with locking wheel nuts and my insurance didn't go up from them.

Just seen this on a Rover forum, anyone care to elaborate on this? I suppose i should just ring and ask really
"I'm with Quinn direct because they allow you to do any cosmetic mod to the car including lowering up to 50mm for no extra cost, but the mods will not be covered.
When I dropped the suspension on the car they asked for an engineers report before they would cover it.
Basically all this involves is taking the form they send to you to a garage, pay a mechanic to have a quick check of the suspension, sign and fill in the form and stamp it then fax or send it back to them."

Your engine is running power levels that are serious compromising the chassis so I'm not supprised
