Looking for a new car, 4k to spend, im 20 yrs old, 2 years NCB + 1 years named driving, No Points...

Looking for a MINT EG6 Civic SiR (import) or a Toyota Starlet Glanza V (import)

Pro's and Con's?

Ive owned a civic 1.5 vei for my 1st car which i liked very much and i work for Toyota which is also handy if i get a glanza. Only thing is we dont get many of them in work so i havnt really had chance to look around one...

Thanks

Well I say the Glanza. Bullit proof car even when they are not given lots of TLC (i had mine for 2 yrs, left it 6 months without running it, fired first time and never missed a beat!)

Plus they are very easy to modify!

You could easily pick up a B18 EG civic for £4k nowadays. Tuning potential, glanza.

glanza day in day out, my friend just got one, absolute flyer, not very expensive to see 220bhp and that would probably work out at nearly 260bhp per tonne! wile machine, never get bored off the turbo chatter lol..

iv had both.........

the glanza... Tuning potential there is alot and from a few simple mods 150-180bhp is very achievable, 200 with a very easy turbo upgrade then 200+ with forged internals. very very fun turbo'd car!

the honda civic, well tbh theres not much point going to the 1.6sir as its very easy to get a b18c (teg type r engine) ones. i had one and sold it not so long ago for 4k.

id much rather of kept the starlet due to the fact you can still drive it quietly and its nice a comfy, looks wicked (though getting very common amongst the chav community (tis a shame) with the honda its very loud (all the time) you cant tune it very well, you'll get bored quick and honda lovers, bum one another too much for them to be pleased with any individual work you may do. (JDM YO!!!) honda owners are idiots! (though there maybe exceptions out there who appreciate other cars) lovely cars though, but from having a 180bhp 200ftlb glanza then having a 214bhp 140lbft b18 eg civic sir, id choose the glanza!

thats my 2p

Glanza v's rule! (plus the starlet gt forum is so much better than civiclife!)

I quite like, see them regular as there is 2 or 3 in the area, a chap who lives behind me imports jap stuff aswell so he allways has a few knocking about. What I don't understand is, what are they..140-150bhp standard (??), for 3.5-4k?? are they easy to tune, or cheap with good gains as for 4k I'd be wanting something alot better and faster than that, I'd rather buy a 106 and throw a few grand at it and get it to 160+bhp.

Back to your question though, I'd prefer the civic.

I'd say Glanza, always had a soft spot for them but they are still quite pricey for what they are...

i agree there still pricey for what they are but so is like an etype jag? not on the same scale BUT they are rare and have to be imported from another country as were never sold in the UK that is why they are more expensive also the imported ones generally are in alot better condition and have lowere miles than you average UK reg car of equal age

In my opinion and from what i have read, Glanza's look shite, and handle crap*, But after reading what damian said i would go for a Glanza.

Civic looks better but that's just my opinion.

*I read they handle crap i do not know this for a fact.
