Just paid £1700 for my 1.6 Sport 18yrs old. TPF&T. My first own policy. Did it monthly which pushed it up to £2000. Only have 1 more month to pay then I think it goes down to £1400 FC with one non fault accident @ 19yrs old.

To insure me for 11 months on my old mans Picasso was £150 extra. Personally i think it's pathetic considering i paid £290 for my own fully comp policy.

I was insured on a Sport with Quinn, the policy was due to end in august. Got an old GTE so phoned them to change the cars over and they told me I will have to cancel my policy as they dont insure cars over 20 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, I think they just make the numbers up. My mate lied to a company recently about a quote he had from a rival company so they dropped their price lol
If there underwriter has certain clauses stating what they can and cant insure then there is nothing they can do.
Remember there only a brand, not the actual insurer

I'm with Admiral and they wanted an extra £300 for the remaining 2 months cover, which would of been about £180 a month for a Vectra V6, cancelled the policy and took a new one out with them and it was £600 for the year. Wasnt arsed about the extra NCB as it only reduced it by £30, so wasnt worth paying the extra just to get it.

Yup, sucks getting insurance at 17. When I was shopping round before getting my first car, it was only about 100-200 quid cheaper to insure a 1.2 16v corsa. Once my 1 years NCB bonus comes through in june my insurance more than halfs! (different company) And its even cheaper to insure a mk4 ibiza 130 diesel, which I'm getting when money allows
richc- yeah it is tom

It is true insurance companies must be laughing, if you never make a claim and your paying them all that money that seems like a good deal to me

i love how they charge you to add modifications to the car but wont replace them in the event of a claim. Thats just fraud!

Insurance companys are professional conmen.
I just went through all this renewal crap four weeks ago.
I've been with performance Direct for the past three years and I've paid 1100quid, then 1000quid then my last years quote was 790. I decided to shop around and found Privelage(through Confused.com) over half as cheap at 367quid, all mods declared and three years no-claims bonus.
I rang Performance Direct to tell then I wasnt renewing with them and told them the quote I recieved. They assured me they could beat it but I made it very clear to them that I was NOT renewing with them. The swines still went ahead and attempted to take 300quid out of my account after swapping to Privelage.
When I rang them they had the cheek to say that I had said YES to my renewal with them. They had quoted me 700 to renew, they had an alternative renewal quote for 625 with another company and when I checked Confused.com they were quoting me 527 as a new customer with them. I strongly advise steering clear of this company as, when I rang upto complain I got an arrogant manager who could only patronise me.
Lesson learned is to shop around for the best quote when your renewal is due, dont show faith in your present insurance company because they dont give a shite as long as there making a mint!
