As above..

I've got a mondeo Diesel in mind at the moment.

Here's what I'm looking for...

Nice Sized (Not a small car)
6 Speed if poss
Diesel
Pokey - Mondeo is 130 BHP
Relatively newish... newer than my Y plate focus
Reliabilty
Reasonable insurance, Group 9 - 10 at most... Focus is an 8, Mondeo a 9.

Any Suggestions?
Budget is just over 2 grand...

Also, Whats the crack with De-Cats on a Diesel?
Will it still fail an MOT like a petrol car? - I've heard they don't but i'm unsure...

I'm basically wanting something i can re-map / Tune, and de-cats make a huge difference on diesels - On older ones anyway!

Any help?

Cheers guys

vectra 150 bhp cdti. 6 speed, colour nav, digital clock (ford still has analogue)

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I sold a 53 plate Mondeo TDCi with 90k on the clock for £2300, was a good car just boring!

Edit: Look for holes in the dash and possibly rear bumper... Taxi... mine was a taxi but I didnt get the meter screwed into the dash, for that reason, mine only had 90k and served me WELL, it got hammered most the time I had it, running 13 hours a day... just beware that because its not got moon mileage that its not a taxi.

Notice the grille, I had to cut it out as the bonnet was jammed shut, and the mechanism broke, obviously you will be checking under the bonnet but this is a common fault.

Yeah i've got the same style bonnet on my 2.0 Petrol focus anyway - Mine's up for sale, want some Derv power tbh...

Love the look of the cars, like the chrome grille, and they seem to be making sensible money - Not overly priced.

I know the tell tail signs for Taxi's, as my Dad used to have his own Taxi, so i always check with bigger cars more so...

Yeah i'll check under the bonnet anyway, the usual things..

Is there anything common to look out for?

I was also thinking Renault Laguna- But the gearboxes are made of cheese and Turbo's are common to blow - Puts me off a bit, as I had an older laguna Diesel and lost a gearbox on that in the 4 months I had it!

Cheers

I've also had one of them

I loved the look of it but that was about it, mine was a 1.8 petrol and it was slow as fuck, but proper gutsy. Lots of niggly little electric problems, tyres sensors always flashing and beeping at you and any other sensor that decided to not work.

Yeah thats what i thought with those.
More likely be a mondeo, though i know they suffer from injector problems at times?

Gotta sell the Focus first, want one of those? lol...

Mine ran for 20k miles without a single glitch, I just got so bored of seeing it.

I actually was looking for a Focus, but I've just bought a new car.. I've got a Vectra SRi for sale though
