I reckon my bros WR1 is quicker than my dads previous 911.
They are amazing fun too. They give you immense confidence due to the level of grip you have coming out of a corner (just like any scooby i guess).
Plus the WR1 has the variable differential controll in the centre consol so you can change how much power goes to the rear wheels at the turn of a little wheel/knob.
And its got a button you can press which sprays ice cold water on the intercooler too. I'm not 100% if the performance would be noticable, but its a cool little gadget.

I'd take the WR1 any day, they look the best of all the blob eyes and will hold value much better than the vxr imo.

Just been doing some research, and its not cooled in any way. I was wrong.
The tank is in the boot and it takes 5 litres.

Haha, was only joking! Yep the reservoir is in the boot and its colder than the intercooler its getting sprayed on anyway!
Thats not really the way it works though, when a liquid evaporates it takes heat from its surroundings - In this case the intercooler!  Had a probe in the pipework on mine between the intercooler and the throttle body to measure intake temps and when the water was sprayed the temps did drop a couple of degrees, more noticeable the hotter it was really! Bit of a fad but we all like toys!!!

The water isnt there to 'cool' the intercooler as such its just a simple case of phsyics, heat transfers from a solid to a liquid and from a liquid to a gas far quicker than it does straight from a solid to a gas  Similar principal to sweat!

Same way that overfuelling in a car that runs hot (turbocharged for example) is safer run rich! The fuel has a cooling effect on the cylinders as some of it evaporates off!

Ive got a 2005 sti which is similar too a wr1. They are great cars, Iove mine. Seems a decent price too.

What is your daily routine btw? Because you'll have to expect a max of 25mpg on motorways etc

I drive 50 or so miles a day down the back roads to my office in Glasgow, 7 days a week usually. With occasional site visits around Scotland (I'm a quantity surveyor for a utility company)
Mpg doesnt really bother me, I'm more concerned about it being reliable - but then I dont drive cars hard on the road, I leave the hooliganism to when I'm on my bikes!
spoke with the missus about it, she's given me the go ahead.... lucky she likes the colour!
